Horseback riding at a real working Guanacaste cattle ranch (hacienda). This family-run cattle ranch is 100% off the grid. You find it in the mountains between Miravalles Volcano, Tenorio Volcano, and its extensive National Park. The 2,000 hectares Hacienda raises and breeds breeding Brangus and Brahaman cattle. Visitors can join the “sabaneros”, or cowboys, while they herd and work the cattle. The Haciendas also protect 700 hectares of primary and secondary forest. Here you can see animals such as pumas, jaguars, mantas, sloths, monkeys, toucans. This is a fun way to get to see most of the farm. The Hacienda has beautiful trails and also “pampa” for those who want to canter. The ride lasts 2 ½ hours. There are trails where you will see many bird species and monkeys such as Cariblanco, Spider or Congo. There are also plenty of sloths, toucans and dantas if you get lucky!
